Why leaders should share their mistakes openly

No one is a masterpiece, we are all works in progress.

Sharing your mistakes openly can create these advantages:

  1. You have room to make calculated risks and openly learn

  2. By sharing your failings and mistakes the people around you will respect you more. It might seem counter-intuitive but vulnerability breeds trust especially with younger team members.

  3. You get to teach in real-time helping others avoid your mistakes

  4. You create trust within your team that perfection is not the aim

  5. You can move past a mistake faster.
