I love your app “Cards” for my iPhone. I have used it a few times and it makes creating customized cards for my family and friends very easy! Plus, I don’t even have to go to the Post Office! Score!
But I do have one suggestion – hell, you can even steal this idea, I don’t care.
You need to add the ability to send a card with an iTunes/AppStore/Apple gift card inside. Did I just blow your mind? Did I just bring you one or two million bucks in one sentence? Maybe!
To me, you are leaving “money on the table” from people such as myself who would like to send cards to my four iPod Touch toting nephews with a gift card.
Also, keep up the good work!
Make no time for cynics. Make no time for pessimists. Their aim is to make company to their misery. To make you fear what they fear.
Once in a while it really hits people that they don’t have to experience the world in the way they have been told to.
For creatives the design process is linked to personal happiness. If you aren't happy with your work, you're just not happy.
Don't Let Today's Work Overwhelm Tomorrow's Strategy
Last week’s Fresh Friday entitled “The Benefits of Soulless Work” was a quick and dirty plea for passion in your life. It ruffled a few feathers on LinkedIn who dismissed it as idealism. These individuals believed that I was discussing menial tasks that we are all subjected to in our jobs as the ‘soulless’ work. I can see how they were mistaken, but I am advocating following your passion in any way possible. I believe idealism has power and it should be encouraged. Design idealism would be taking on big tasks, thinking big within the constraints of budget and scope. In essence ‘taking everything you do to the next level’… even those “menial” tasks. I am proud to be a positive thinker, someone who will never give up on my passions and my dreams. I believe all should be encouraged to follow passion, regardless of the final outcome, because if you pursue something that makes you happy that can only lead to great things.
Friday Fresh is a series of articles detailing issues, questions, answers, inspiration and more within a creative work environment. Its quick and its dirty but I hope it gets you riled up to create conversation both within the design community and companies that have in-house creatives. These articles are, in essence, thoughts I wrote down in my sketchbook. If there is a topic you would like to discuss or have any comments please feel free to leave a message at the bottom of this post.
What are the benefits of “soulless” work? Ya know the work I am talking about – mind-numbing or missing any passion. You do it for a paycheck, not for the love. What are the real benefits of this type of work over the long run? My answer might surprise some of you… but keep reading to understand what I mean…
